Brighter Roads, Safer Communities: Street Lights Installed Across Bellefield

For the first time in four years, ten brand new street lights have been installed across each community in the Bellefield Division, a welcomed improvement  for our residents in rural Manchester.

This move is part of an ongoing effort by Councillor Mario Mitchell to improve public safety and community infrastructure in the Division as unlit roads and thick overgrowth often pose hazards, particularly at night.

Bellefield, known for its verdant landscape, requires consistent maintenance to prevent roads from becoming overtaken by bush. In this context, lighting serves a dual function:

  1. improving security

  2. making navigation easier for motorists and pedestrians alike, including those unfamiliar with our rural terrain.

This is the first phase of the 2025 street light programme, with another round of installations scheduled in the coming weeks. I have built a reputation for delivering and this is yet another initiative that reflects my ongoing commitment to “outcomes over optics.”
